Welcome to The Social Exchange, the website for exchanging ideas about co-operative and social enterprise theory and practice.
The goal of the Social Exchange is to support cross-organisational collaboration by practitioners and academics who study, work in and support:
- employee-owned and controlled businesses
- worker, consumer and community co-operatives
- mutual societies (IPSs) and communty interest companies (CICs)
- other social enterprises, firms and businesses
- charitable trading
- the development of a social economy
The site is:
- a free and open access resource for members, directors, trustees, policy makers, academics and professionals who work with democratically controlled associations, enterprises and businesses.
- a repository of discussions and information contributed by thinkers and practitioners in the fields of employee-ownership, co-operative and social enterprise development.
- a social network for contributors to academic and practitioner conferences organised by members of this site.
- an Alumni network for students on co-operative and social enterprise degree programmes offered by members of this site.
The Social Exchange was established by Dr Rory Ridley-Duff, co-author of Understanding Social Enterprise: Theory and Practice and founder of the MSc Co-operative and Social Enterprise Management at Sheffield Hallam University.
This site is managed by its members.
All critical thinkers in the world of management, business and economic development are welcome.
